水打って明朝体に戻りけり
After sprinkling water, I returned to the Ming style writing.

路地のゆうぐれどき。打ち水をして縁台に腰を掛け目を閉じる。キーンと冷えたビールを
あおるまでの一種の通過儀礼だ。
一日働いた体は、柔らかく語りかけるような明朝体の感触に溶けていく。
一口目の冷えたビールは格別。う、うめ〜ぃ 極楽っ！
| It is dusk, and I’m in an alley. I sprinkle water, sit down on a bench,
and close my eyes.This is a sort of routine of mine, before gulping down a glass of ice-cold beer. My body,
exhausted after today’s work, melts into the sensation of the Ming-style writing, which seems
to speak softly. The first gulp of beer is exceptional. Ahhhh! This is heaven!

コッペパン男の胸にある昭和

学校給食でおなじみの、ずんぐりむっくりのコッペパン。前の席の女の子の髪に「ずんぐりむっくり」と、
書いた紙を括りつけて大目玉をくった男の子は居残りさせられたっけ。
あの黒いコッペパン、いまも健在であろうか。
Koppepan, a pudgy bread that was common in school lunch. I remember how
a boy affixed a sheet of paper that said “pudgy” to the hair of the girl sitting in front of him.
He got a good scolding and was given detention. I wonder whether that black koppepan still exists.

まばゆいばかりの夏を迎えるブリキの金魚。オモチャのなかではブリキの金魚は王様だ。人間さまは、
くたびれ果てているけれどブリキの金魚は、
水中の美女に口を寄せ、音をたてながらアブクを吐いている。
| About to welcome a brilliantly sparkling summer, the tin goldfish is the king of toys.
While humans are exhausted, the tin goldfish is kissing a beautiful woman in the
water and bubbling noisily from the mouth.
